Your voice should make a difference
opd stands for Organisation zum Erhalt der Demokratie e.V. — Organization for the preservation of democracy. We want to strengthen exchange between the public, politics, the media and business. Our guiding idea is to practise democracy together and help bring about change.
For us, democratic participation does not end on election day. People should be able to ask questions, understand different perspectives and make their concerns visible together. opd provides an independent, non-party platform for this purpose. It does not replace parliaments or statutory elections.
From a question to a public voice
- Members suggest issues and public figures: Browse proposals.
- Reviewed proposals can become clearly worded surveys: Explore surveys.
- Released results show what participants think. They are not presented as the opinion of everyone in Germany.
- Results can inform conversations, campaigns and events. Their status and outcomes remain traceable.
Open to people, clear about our principles
Democracy, human rights and respectful discussion guide our work. Origin, religion or party preference should never replace an argument. Differences can be discussed fairly; threats, degrading treatment and incitement to violence have no place here.

The board reviews each application. Find out how to get started. You can also read about the association and how our surveys work.
An international outlook is part of our idea: democracy and human rights concern the whole human family. We welcome conversations with people who want to develop related initiatives in other countries.
